Kushagra Mohan Success Story

Kushagra Mohan

From – Bangalore, India

Before Pragmatic Leaders – Associate PM at Multibhashi

After Pragmatic Leaders course, transitioned to – Product Manager @CasaOne (Silicon Valley-based Furniture rental company)

Q1. If you have to describe in 2 lines the impact this course has made in your professional journey?

Joining PM Bootcamp course at Pragmatic Leaders was the most career-defining moment for me. Being a PM aspirant for more than a year, I knew how difficult it is to crack into the PM eco-system. I cannot be thankful enough to the Pragmatic leader team for the career track it has put me in.

Q2. How do you think this course filled the gap of lack of experience in the Product role for you?

The networking opportunities and the product portfolio that you can build while being a part of Pragmatic Leaders, immensely helps you put your word out there . Especially when you don’t have enough practical experience.

It’s a great experience to be a part of a Product Community, especially in India where there are not many active communities like the one offered by PL. The active support ultimately helps you in making a smooth transition.

Q3. What was your favorite part of the course?

The second phase of the course which included doing a team project helped me explore and build a network within the product community. This is intangible. It is something which will go beyond the course and last for-ever.

Q4. How would you rate the Instructors and course structure?

The pragmatic team helped me go through the process of becoming a Product manager in a very systematic way. The structure of this course is very scientific. The first component was getting familiar with the basic pedagogy.

Every week I use to discuss Product management theories with an Industry Expert (Surbhi from Amazon, Silicon Valley, in my case) by solving real case studies from the Industry. This accelerated my learning as the discussions were very exhaustive and detailed in nature.

Q5. What part of the course was the most helpful for you?

Career support – I appeared for some 9 PM Interviews and ended up getting offers from 6, and I was able to join as a PM at a hike of 300% compared to my last drawn CTC.

Achieving this was beyond my realm had it not been the support from the Pragmatic community. They instilled the required confidence in me with the right pedagogy and mentorship.

Flipped Classroom

Our learners learn by discussing and debating on real-world problems and are actively involved in the solution design process.

Conventional classroom

Sage on Stage

  • A teacher shares the knowledge via live presentations
  • Teachers are at the center of the learning and considered sage on stage
  • Knowledge transfer is one-way and the focus is on knowledge retention
  • Learners don’t get to discuss their ideas or opinions in the class
  • Hence, most learners are unable to apply these concepts in their everyday work life
  • Great for scenarios, where knowledge acquisition and retention is the only focus

Flipped classroom

Guide on side

  • Learners are the center of the universe
  • Classes are meant for healthy discussions and debates on topics
  • Learners go through the material on their own provided by the mentors
  • Mentors work as guide on the side, with the learners
  • Learners develop skills on problem solving, critical thinking and self-learning – the 21st century skills that employers look for
  • Great for scenarios where application skills matter
  • 21st century skills require guide on the side. Simply acquiring knowledge is worthless now.
